Aldermyrberget: PPA signed and wind turbines ordered
With the signing of a PPA contract at the end of April, the wind farm developer wpd was able to place the last piece of the puzzle for the Swedish project Aldermyrberget. Now all the preparations have been made to put the plans for the 72 megawatts wind farm, which is being built in the municipality of Skellefteå in the north of Sweden, into practice. The 17 Vestas V150 wind turbines (WTG) with an output of 4.2 megawatts each and a hub height of 155 meters have already been ordered.
Maria Röske, Managing Director of wpd Scandinavia AB, knows about the importance of the project: "The implementation of the park is a milestone for us in Sweden. After a long planning period and a few setbacks, it now becomes clear that it was right and important to persist with the Swedish market and Aldermyrberget. We have been optimizing the project over the years and have now developed the best possible concept for the farm, which has been widely accepted right from the start."
wpd has signed a long-term supply contract for CO2-free electricity with a big Swedish industrial group. At the end of April, both companies ratified a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). "We are pleased to be supplying a company with a long history in Sweden with the green electricity from the Aldermyrberget wind farm, thus ensuring local added value," says Röske. In addition, the PPA contract ensures the long-term viability of the project.

About the project:
Aldermyrberget is being built in northern Sweden – about 60 kilometers from the town of Skellefteå, which makes it the northern-most project wpd has ever implemented. The planning for Aldermyrberget started in 2010 and at the beginning of 2014 the park was already close to completion. New developments, however, meant that the project had to be rescheduled again.
The frosty climate requires the WTGs to be installed with anti-icing-systems and limits the season favorable for construction. The preparation of the project area on the lands of the owners Sveaskog, Holmen and one private landowner has already been completed, such that wpd can start building the infrastructure for the wind farm immediately. The installation of the WTGs is planned for summer 2020 and commissioning for the end of 2020.
