The foundations for this move were laid with the signing of the contract to take over Volkswind USA Inc., with its head office in Portland in the US State of Oregon. The company was founded in 2008. The team based there is working on various wind farm projects in different states of the USA.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&quot;We see major potential in the American wind energy market and we are looking forward to expanding wpd&#8217;s international activities together with the local team, and implementing promising projects&quot;, states Dr. Gernot Blanke, CEO at wpd.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>wpd also has recent success to report in South America. On August 18th 2016, the Chilean Energy Ministry announced the results of an extensive invitation to tender for delivering electricity. wpd won contracts for three projects with a total volume of 350 MW, all to be erected by 2021.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>About wpd<\/div>\n<div>wpd develops and operates onshore and offshore wind farms, and is actively engaged in 18 countries around the world, the head office is in Bremen. The company has realised wind energy projects with around 1,900 turbines and an output of 3,600 MW, and is planning further onshore wind projects with a total of 6,700 MW.
