wpd and NewEn obtain permits for two Australian projects with 60 MW total
Bremen-headquartered international wind farm developer wpd has obtained project permits for two Western Victoria wind farms developed in cooperation with NewEn Australia Pty. Ltd. The two new projects will have a total rated power of 59.8 MW. „We are pleased to have cleared another hurdle. This is an important milestone for our Australian market presence. Together with our partners, we will now soon start implementing the projects," says wpd board member Dr. Gernot Blanke.
Local permitting bodies have gratend NewEn Australia building permits for the „Salt Creek " and the „Morton´s Lane" wind farms with a rated power of 29.9 MW each. Both are located in the western part of the State of Victoria, c. 50 km off the coastline and 300 km west of Melbourne. „With the permits issued, we expect to be able to begin construction in 2009. The close vicinity of both projects should yield manifold synergies.", says Svend Karstedt of NewEn Bremen.
