Development of the wind power sector in Germany continues to be a key driver for the worldwide market. The know-how and technology associated with Made in Germany are based on the home market, which is meanwhile levelling out at 1,800 MW to 2,400 MW of new installations annually after a phase of consolidation. A total of 2,439 MW had been newly installed in 2012: 31,332 MW of power output were connected to the grid at the year’s end as a result.

The wpd group will also be making an important contribution to speeding up the development of regenerative energies in Germany during the coming years. In addition to developing projects in-house, the wpd group also purchases or takes over project rights, the commercial set-up, the contractual drafting and the project’s financing until completion.
